This is a long series of Hijdas at the Ganesh Visarjan 2006 that I shot late in the night, these pictures were gifted to me by Lord Ganesha, as the Hijdas are very devout in their multifaceted religiosity, I had walked barefeet from Lal Bagh , empty stomach shooting pictures of Lord Ganesha heading towards the Girgaum Chowpatty , I had finished my shoot when I discovered this Kamatipura float shot pictures that became my best eunuch poems too..Earlier I wanted to keep these pictures exclusively on my home site, but I want them to find a broader base at Word Press.This is my entire repertoire on Hijdas in 15 months.. I meet them , I always meet them on roads , during my train travels , they want to be talke about through my pictures , this I am certain about, also I shoot Hijdas differently in a new spectral life ..humane emotion aided..sentiment synchronized…
Kamatipura is an area of sleazy lanes bylanes of sexual sin, degradation, moral turpitude, I have been here seen the flesh pots overspilling for sale, as cheap as you can get, this is an extension of the Redlight area ubiquitously called the Cages or Peela House, there is Foras Road the numbered middle class up end whore joints, I have been here with friends, it requires another web page…
I am pictorially trying to reveal the nature of Eunuchs..even if my picture loses out on focussing or even a slight blur I add it to my collection , I have been threatened with dire circumstances when I was a photographer novice of how they would smash my camera and my balls..
At the Hijda Sammelan at Vikhroli Mumbai I wore protective gear for the safety of my Testicular Fortitude.Seriously.
They have this fear that you will capture their spirit take them in your power, it sounds stupid in todays modern world, but the thought exists.. at the Hijda Sammelan, they would hide their faces from me , their were those old hags over the hill Eunuchs who would shame me and my camera by stripping completely at the Sammelan.. waiting that I would be tempted to shoot them and they would bodily harm me.. for this pictorial misdemeanour..
I am gifted to the extent of reading my adversarys thoughts, this is a gift that is with all of us, some know how to use it , some abuse it till it moves away from the residence of a mans mind…
Well back to this Eunuch she saw me shooting the Malkhamb Boy during the Ganesh Visarjan, .. grabbed my hand bought me over to her Hijda float of Lord Ganesha , fuck she was strong as a bullock, I started taking the Name of all my Eunuch apostles, Baby , Manju, Laxmi Tripathi.. Laxmis name was enough to all of them giving me a condescending reprieve nod their head, rever me as a Sadhu Photographer.. someone kissed my hand and said Laxmi Narayan Tripathi was her Hijda God Mother ..
Laxmi Narayan Tripathi, is a Dai , runs a foundation for the welfare of Eunuchs is internationally seen on channels like National Geographic, BBC ,CNN, she is a powerfully intelligent spokesmen for her transgendered community, I worked on her her costumes for an Indra Kumar film.. she is graduate in Bharatnatyam, can make an old man spill out all his testosterone level with merely a sexual glint of her eye..
So now you can understand.. some names can even open the doors of Transgendered Paradise..This picture is not picture perfect I had to tweak it a bit.. she is a Madrasi Hijda believers of Lord Iravan, Koothandavar Koovagam.
Some of them believe in Goddess Yellamma too, she is a Aravani.

The Hijdas of Kamatipura Ganesh Visarjan – 1742 viewsShe recognized me alright was the one who told me that Laxmi Narayan Tripathi Dai of the Welfare of the Eunuch foundation was her Hijda God mother..they wanted me to shoot pictures like there was no tomorrow, each one kissing each other , their toyboys all pissed out of their pants publically horny as hell.. open display of freedom for their loved ones these loved ones birds with broken wings.. it was a sombre sad thought, the deliriousness of the moment of Ganshas Devotion..
I was no more tired, but hadicapped with a flash that would go comatose flaccid after each shot.. pun intented as it is a Nikon inbuilt flash on the fucked Nikon D70.
She was a an orchid of Hijda Beauty, in terms with her alternate sexuality, Kamatipura as a red light area is not for the weak of heart this hard core Hijda land too, no push overs here , this area comes to life in the night , there are various numbered gullies trade exists on the roads , the Hijdas have their special lanes, the dviants , the perverts you will find them all here.. here are also young boys who will be initiated after a brief ceremony as Hijdas..
I had met one of these boys but he did not tell me much , he was from Murshidabad in West Bengal , he had come here on his own free will to become a Hijda , he was a beautiful young doe eyed boy, he would become a Hijda after a ceremony he told me .He was quite excited about his life as a Hijda waiting in the wings..He asked me if I wanted a blow job, I politely moved away..

Get married in the night and break the 'thali' the next morning. This is the essence of the Koothandavar festival celebrated by the eunuchs.
The village of Koovagam is next to Ulundurpet taluk in Villupuram district. The Koothandavar temple is situated in this village. This is the only temple for eunuchs, and their family deity is the Koothandavar.
A fifteen day Chitrai festival based on Mahabaratha is celebrated every year in grand style. According to the Mahabaratha, Rajakumaran, a eunuch was born to Arjuna and Naga Kannigai. The Pandavas, decided to sacrifice a human to ensure victory in the war and Rajakumaran was the sacrificial 'goat'. His last wish was to get married.
No one came forward to marry Rajakumaran. Lord Krishna appeared as a female and married him. The next day he was killed. To signify this, the marriage is held the previous night and breaking of the 'thali' the next morning is done every year as a ritual.
Along with this Chitrai festival, the Tamil Nadu Association for eunuchs and the Aids prevention and control wing of Voluntary Health Services, conducted a 'Miss Koovagam' contest on April 23rd.
Ranjitha from Bangalore was selected as 'Miss Koovagam'. Madhumita from Erode and Vadivu from Thiruchengode were the first and second runners-up. A total of 34 people participated in it.
On 22nd April, an interactive discussion that was well attended was conducted in Villupuram. The participants expressed anguish that they are not part of the mainstream society and they are looked down upon by others.
The climax of the festival is the marriage (s) celebrated by song and dance. The chariot festival was on 24th. At the end of this was the 'sacrifice'. Those who accepted the deceased as their husband, cut their 'thalis', broke the bangles and stared wailing in grief.
Though most who had gathered felt bad about the way society treats them, for no fault of theirs, there was a participant who was different, " I deem it fortunate that only we can become the wife of God"

Koovagam is a village in the Ulundurpet taluk in Villupuram district, Tamil Nadu. It is famous for its annual festival of hijras and homosexuals, which takes fifteen days in the Tamil month of Chitrai (april/may).
The festival takes place at the Koothandavar Temple. The hijras marry the Lord Vishnu/Krishna and then the next day, mourn his death through ritualistic dances and by breaking their bangles. An annual beauty peageant and several other competitions like singing contests are held.
Basic rights of hijras and healthcare are discussed in seminares too.
Hijras from different places travel to this festival. A lot of men, who do not identify as hijras or even homosexuals gather there to have sex with the hijras during the festival.

I came back to the shop , showed them a few pictures of Ajmer taken last year dropped them in a rick ..they are staying at Juhu, house of Zaved Akthar..Peersaab is in Bangladesh for his spiritual discourse.
I took a shot nap , its 4.30 pm..

Eunuch Community Ganesha Festival Shia Hijdas – 1300 viewsIt has been almost close to an year that I have been shooting Eunuchs , it was mostly from afar, at the Dargahs, it started from Makhdoom Shah Baba Mahim, my trek to Haji Malang bare feet , I had participated in a Fire Walk the night before called Ag Ka Matam blisters galore , on reaching atop the hill catching up with Late Sikandar Wali Baba of Chancawalli at Ahmed Gaadiyali Chowk, the meeting place of all the Rafaees in India , I met Laxmi Narayan Tripathi too after 11 years , saw the devout nature of the Eunuchs to all forms of dieties, their motto Sarv Dharm Ek, all religions are One.. so here at the Ganesh Visarjan, some of the Eunuchs were Muslims, but all interlinked to One .. the Supreme One , even a prostitute has a right to live and worship, there are crazy eunuchs bigots , but very negligible , like the one I met in Moti Katra who wanted to know who killed Imam Hussain, whether it was Shimr or the Shias , I knew she was trying to bait me to erupt , I told her it was Islam that killed the Imam, the misguidance of the Ummayads brand of Islam, my mothers womb had produced a Shia I was happy to remain and die one.
According to me the Hidas who come from the Shia faith are a disillusioned lot , soon give up Shiasm as Shiasm disallows visits to graves, Shrines.
But there are Shia Hijdas who are very devout those in Lucknow who are totally involved with every aspect of Moharam collectively called Azadari E Hussain.
I remember a Shia hijda who saw me in my sadhu dress at the All India Hijda Sammelan, but came up to me , said I know you are Shia she told me , she was not from Mumbai or Lucknow but from Punjab , this is the high level of Hijda perception, it is indeed mindboggling.
Leaving aside this incident , a splinter like , the Eunuchs I have seen have always surrendered to Godliness , irrespective of its varied Color.. it all comes down to a single word Faith...
