Zeenath Hijda Guru Gully No1 – 5475 viewsZeenath asked me politely to leave, but she would meet me down afer the Puja, I fell for her line, I did not want to aggravate her by shooting anymore pictures, so I retreated but on the landing near the toilet were Hijdas having a bath, I was warned not to take pictures,I moved away sitting with the toy boys to realise that Zeenath sent a message that she had left on an urgent call.
This picture was shot in fear and hurry .
I took some casual shots of a Hijda called Sona .

Zeenat the Hookah Girl – 1710 viewsI have posted much of Zeenats pictures at my parent site, she was in her naughty element, I try not be personal, never ask them personal details unless they tell me themselves, I am not into probing the dark side of their Moon..
Be and let Be and Live and Let Live ..as simple as that, I dont know what me take up cudgels for them, no ulterior motive, no need to sensationalize their life style, I wanted to shoot their rituals and ended up shooting them as a community,, Laxmi Tripathi my transgender web savvy friend avoids me,as she is busy with her work on emancipating the Hijras..
And I keep my eyes open for the Hijdas on the roads , but you hardly see them, and I could add a lot to my study of them I flew to Delhi and took up the invitation of Gopal Haji and Babita , foster parents of Mona the child Eunuch.. but my business is in doldrums.
I shoot simple things and elevate their simplicity to bring them to you, show you a part of our fascinating Indian World.. miracles galore , I did not mention but the Statue of Shri Sai Baba was drinknig milk and this has been happening all over northern India, and whatever the scientific explanation, the simple people feel it is a Hand of God , this World belongs to simple people.. who take black as black and white as white and dont hunt for details in the shadows..
If you tell them the sea became sweet due to the rains , they will ask you that last year it rained much heavier than this time and why did the seas not turn sweet, the capillary action in liquids was given for the reason the statue drank milk , but they are happy in the simplicity that is Gods charismatic way of proving that he is still around.. and miracle or no miracle there is still some Hope for Mankind..
Today is a spring cleaning day at my shop, getting rid of all the old stufff, specially stuff that like me has aged and become junk...
Now back to Zeenat the Eunuch she is also from Delhi , at our first meeting she did not want he pictures taken..but this was the second visit and she herself came , gave me the poses that I shot..

I dont have the slithering aptitude of a fashion photographer, but I have seen a lot of Indian fashion photographers at work, they are very accurately on target with their own individual stamp of style..
I have worked as a model coordinator at Mudra an inhouse advertising agency in the 80 s belonging to Reliance Industries and I was new to this aspect of work, as I was hired to style the costumes of Mr Kabir Bedi for a Vimal suitings campaign in 1984 , this was shot at Agra at the Taj Mahal by the eminent photographer Suresh Sheth, I have not met him since then.. I designed the entire range summer and winter.. it was an experience of sorts, but that I will take up photography as a hobby was a million light years from my mind, and this particular campaign was to be shot by Pablo Batholomew master of Natural Light, but he had to forego it to be a part of late Prime Minister Rajeev Gandhis election campaign troupe..
And this Taj Mahal Vimal, campaign was a fiasco in shooting terms, as we did not bother about the female model in the distant frame and she was in some other world when the pictures were processed , and so old stock had to be used after shooting over 1500 pictures, Mr Suresh Sheth took mostly hand held shots before the advent of the digital, I look back and think all this perepheral involvement with photography helped.
I saw Adrian Stevens at work, Wilas Bhende, Naadish Chip Naorojee, late Suresh Cordo, Shantanu Sheorie , so many other luminaries including Sumeet Chopra and this was a scooter shoot with Govinda directed by Raj Kumar Santoshi and till date was never paid by the production house a hefty sum inspite of several reminders , this was the time I had started my own tailoring shop Bollywoods Most Wanted . I worked with Atul Kasbekar on a South Indian film, never got paid, the producer paid me an advance and slipped away from the back door to Chennai.. such are the vagaries of a glamour world.. in most cases..
So to cut short, I am not at all into portfolio or fashion, or kitchen food stuff photography.
I am a street photographer and shot Zeenat the Eunuch as though I was shooting her on the street.. she knew the ropes, I was here for a spiritual pilgrimage , but in a studio Zeenat would have stripped her androgynous soul through her hot blooded physicality..
I am thinking that Eunuchs really open up with me, they hate photographers and photography.. are prone to smashing the camera and the photographers head..at the Hijda Sammelan that I attended for the first time in my life at Vikhroli Mumbai I was bodily thrown out , as they thought I was a Tantric dressed in saffron and a was there to rob their souls..
This was shot at Moti Katra an entire block of houses belonging to various Khadims and is housed by Eunuchs from all over India.. I discovered it a day before I was to leave for Mumbai.. was badly bruised because of the 45 km trek to visit the Holy shrine of Eunuch and his biological child .. hidden in the mountains of Chashme Nur.. near Taragadh..

I met Zeenat at Ajmer Sharif along with Sohel and his group and she is really hot and has the body language to make herself desirable , I think a dancer too I shot quite a few pictures at Moti Katra.. she enjoyed being photographed , she teased me as Hijda fashion photographer...

Zeenat Hijda Guru Gully No1 Kamatipura – 5066 viewsI reached the second floor came face to face with Zeenath the Hijda Guru Gully No1, I told her I was a chela of Laxmi Narayan Tripathi, I was searching for some Hijdas I had shot during the Ganesh Visarjan, as this was a impromptu trip, had I planned it I should have carried the 4/6 prints of the Hijdas I had shot, this would heve been the best approach, I could pretend I want to give the pictures to them, they out of curiosity would ask me to shoot them too, but I am a dumb arsehole in matters of the mind..I step on the gas at the last moment to realise the tyres have gone burst..
Zeenat was bare breasted I asked her to cover herself I requested a picture, realising I had no flash on my Nikon F100 that was loaded with a Fuji Film ASA 400, very grainy..not as sharp as what it used to be a few years back.. the light came from the back the reading was 30 at 2.8
I took the shot , Zeenath was performing a puja my lens was Nikon 50mm AF1.4 the best in such situations..
This was a puja of Initiation of a new Hijda in the fold, blessings of Bhaichura Mata were being invoked, lots of sweets vermillions, the new Hijda in a silk saree head covered.. I missed my 20 mm lens..
But beggars as photographers cant be choosers..if wishes were horses than Hijdas would ride.
I think Matt of Word Press should have me voted at Word Press as the best most informative Hijda and Eunuch site ....but multicolored asses like mine take time to be noticed..but if I was in Iraq choked on a river bend they would have noticed me alright.
Now I move to my third shot...

Zeenat ...Catch me If You Can – 1408 viewsThis was Zeenat having a wild time , me shooting her there was just a soul or two in the room, this spacious room belonged to Basanti.. the Eunuch Queen .. had Zeeenat done her makeup groomed herself better proper threads this would have been a memorable set of pictures, I try no to remove any impediments from the path of my shoot they break the monotony of the moment as I saw it and reality is what matters in the end.. fuck I cannot understand photographers who are into having their pictures reviewed expect everyone to love their pictures, I was review pictures online at Fan Art review, sometimes just to learn from other peoples conceit, I gave three stars , I am asked by the photographer why I gave three stars elaborate..as he was confused, I replied had I in my confusion given 5 stars you would still be confused.. I gave up reviewing from today.. poetic reviewing can be fuckin confusing..but this was one of my first sites..when I floundered my soul on the sinking shores of the Internet.And for the record I dont go to
