This is the bargah or the shrine of Imam Hussains brother Hazrat Abbas, after the death of Bibi Fatima , Hazrat Ali married a woman of a very brave tribe called Umme Banin.. her son Abbas who had all the qualities of Ali… would behave like slave to the Imam always calling him Moulah, or Akkah.
In the battle of Karbala the standard bearer of the Imams 72 soldiers was Hazrat Abbas… the Imam never wanted to send Abbas to battle as Abbas had a fiery temparement,but had to give in as the waters of the eupharates were blocked to the Imams family,,and they hadnt had a drop..
Little Sakina.. 4 year daughter of Imam Hussai gave her Uncle Abbas the water pouch called the Mashke Sakina… Hazrat Abbas who was known
as Shere Nayastane Haider was outnumbered by the unislamic Yazidi forces and was martyred.. hence the chant…Ya Sakina Ya Abbas

this is the unwritten doctrine maksade hussain… the resson for life for a shia is to cry for his imam… to remember him as his fore fathers did 1400 years before.. only a shia can answer this… i have no problems with the majority community called sunnis.. whatever history of shias we have comes from their books…my best freinds are sunnis.. they have their reasons.. we have ours… they cannot change us,, we will not change… at least i wont.. even the shias want me to change,, the sufis want me to change.. the nagas they dont change,, they wear next to nothing…the holy spirit he sure changed me… faith is not a church, mosque,or a mandir..

THIS IS NOT THE CRUSADES,, THIS IS KARBALA WHERE THE SEEDS OF TERRORISM WERE SOWN..

founded the qutub shahi dynasty,, he had married a hindu danceuse,, called bhagmati.. on becoming king he changed her name to hyder mahal... hence hyderabad.
in 1724 asif jah who was granted the title of the nizamul mulk by the moghul emperor.. took over the control of hyderabad province.
his successors ruled as nizams of hyderabad,,

hussain.. the period is moharram strictly celebrated for 40 days or some for 2months 8days,,,,by the shia moslems
they wear black clothes and mourn the matyrdom of the grandson of the holy prophet,, by the evil yazidi forces of that time..
this event is celebrated in iran iraq pakistan and in india,, and other countries.
the above scene is from hyderabad,, india,, and is on the 10th day of moharram called ashura,
you views and sensibilities may differ from the shias,,,,
you may call their views misguided… but that is the goal of their life,, through my pictures.. i share with you the study of mans

This is a replica of the shrine of Imam Hussains brother named Hazrat Abbas noted for his valour.. his sacrifice,,, he was the standard bearer of the army of the Imam that consisted of 72 people against the Yazidi forces…Imam Hussains army was totally wiped out in Karbala present Iraq..
but a new army took its place an army of mourners called Shias.
Hyderabad is the city in India where the feelings of the faith of these people can be seen…
I shot this picture for the writing on the walls… in the heart of the kids.
