Most of the kids want to hit and get results so they opt for the swowd ..and swords are expensive and take much time in making and the maintenance is tough .. a cheap swordwould be about rs1500..rough and crude ..made from carbonised hacksaw blade the giant broad ones.
Many a times people have asked me to take the sword.. but I am happy scourging or cutting my head with a daggar..this time at almeida park on saturday Kassim my friend had his blades and wanted me to use it.. but I was not in the mood.. and the new house has zapped all pent up inner strength..
the Guy in the center is cutting himself with a sword .. and its a tiugh technique and even the sufi piercers will run a mile justseeing the way we use it.. and this is the real thing called pain and Maksade Hussain.
And all this is happening on the road to the Shia Cemetry...Rehmatabad.

Another view of alams moving under the JJ bridge and this an awesome sight and sadness too as Moharram ..is almost over one aspect .,. that is of 10days hosting of majlis at home and imambargahs..and the next big day would be 40days after Ashura called Chelum..and the crowds here in Mumbai would be about 10 lacs atleast and again the Alams and the Juloos will move the same distance to Rehmatabad the Shia cemetry.

This was a beauty of a shot and its tough with the jostling, and no place to get a hold on , for taking shots.
And moving also at the same time as there much happening as each anjuman or groupfrom a certain locality joins in..the Halloris are best for hand matam.. chest beating, the Kashmiris for blade matam, the Kurla and Mumbra guys for kama and forehed cutting, the Moghul masjid guys for Zanjir matam and chelum would be deafning the chants of Ya Hussain Ya Hussain, Ya Sakina Ya Abbas,.
And my pictorial jouney of Moharram has nothing to do with my religious beliefs, I show you as a photographer, my technique, my pictorial poetry embedded in the image.. and dont read beyond this .. there is no proselytization from my photographic pulpit..and stick to your beliefs, and dont get swayed into sweet talks paradise is all here on earth.. take it or leave it.. and if you dont like it dont make it hell for others..if I was given a million rupees I would never go to Saudi Arabia, or Pakistan.. a country cannot be called a country that does not respect human rights.. and my Mecca and Medina are in my heart and my heart yes truly it is Karbala.. and my Karbala is in India...and a little bits and pieces of my heart must be in America too..

Well this end one stet of negatives on Ashura day I shot three totally.. and with this et the start at JJ hospital has been shown to you.. this picture is to give you the feel and the pathos of Ashura DAY 10TH Moharram the Martyrdom Commeroation of Imam Hussain.
And I will leave for a small moharram segment that is being held by the Vazir Family at Almeida park at Bandra west close to my shop and will wind its way to the Shia Khoja mosque at Bandra Bazar road..
