I love shooting this little girl and her eyes challenge me to unravel them , and I can see nothing, and I was talking to her dad the way he makes her attend the juloos is fine but there are times I see the tiredness and weariness in her opaque eyes, andI saw this ennui at the Kaiser Bagh juloos, but she is his ward and he is doing it not for money he is from an affluent family, he is a graphic artist ,his father has a shoe shop near Moghul Masjid..
I envy him he has two of them both alike.

A close up and the blurrs add to the movemant of the chest beating, and this is all on 35/70 Nikon AF lens 2.8.
And I got this lens for rs 15000/ I sold my F80 that I had got from Subashji for Rs 25000 and it had been overworked so I sold it for Rs 10000/ and added Rs 5000 and got the lens..a superb exchange.
And even my F90x I got from Subashji for Rs 20000 second hand but today it has no buyers, such is camera life in Mumbai.
Someone has given Subashji a sparingly used Nikon D70 to sell body and lens and nobody wants to touch it with a bargepole..and I tell all I meet to buy a Canon its a safer and better bet, at the juloos too a photographer from Ahmedabad asked me which digital camera he should buy I told him 350D Canon..Fuck Nikon..
And Subashjis son Sumeet in USA working for Microsoft has been sent a Buzznet invite..
a very handsome and good looking guy..he calls me Uncle Shakir..

Iam celeberating chelum in Mumbai after a gap of two years I was last year in Hussaintekri Jaorah, and year before that in Hyderabad, and I am well known all over India as I am a storythat grows by word of mouth, and I wear no jewllery at all, only my earrings as my holes get infected if I keep them open...or remove my funky earrings.
And it was sheer nostalgia as Moharram in your home town has a special effect and for me as a photographer a change of venue and faces is important,and the landscape changes too, Kargill in Ladakh was my choice for Ashura but it did not happen..and there was a conflict between the Muslims and the Buddhists too .and my attire and apperance would have an added confusion i wear skirts look likea Tibetan Lama and scourge and chant Ya hussain and transform into a Shia..
I have great respect for the Dalai Lama and am known to him..

I had gone to Shubas and I was already a wee bit late , the Juloos started at 4.30 and I reached at 5 pm.. and it trails like this towards Mazgaon to our Shia cemetry at Rehmatabad and these are all street pictures..and I missed my 20mm..that I gave for repairs.

Chelum or Arbayeen is the 40th day of the Martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain,
When all were killed at Karbala the satanic forces of Yazid decapitated the heads of Imam Hussain and his brave 72 warriors and placed them as souvenirs on spears , leaving the unclothed bodies of the Imam and his companions on the burning sands of Karbala , and taking the women, children manacled and chained to walk to Damascus Syria called Shaam, in this group were Janabe Zainab sister of the Imam and pther ladies of the Holy House of The Prophet Mohammad, and the little six year old daughter of the Imam Bibi Sakina, and the sole male survivor the sickly Zainul Abedden, the 4 th Imam, he too was chained , manacled ,and his hair had turned white in one night seeing the inhuman massacre of his loved ones...and the 4th Imam when asked where he suffered most ..he replied Shaam Shaam Shaam..the indignified behaviour of Yazid against the ladies of the Holy Prophets family .Today entire Islamic nation is troubled by the Cartoons of the Holy Prophet .and when the cartoons of his family members were drawn in blood on the killing sands of Karbala the so called Islam turned a blind eye.. I am ashamed and shocked at the moderations of the Muslims of that time..castarated hearts and impotent souls..and where they really Muslims.?
My question is as a Muslim and being a Shia is coincidental ..I am first a specie called Man.. the accidental Tourist..

Ashura at the cemetry I broke my Sb 28 Nikon flash this time I was lucky and used the Nikon D70 ..lens 35/70 2.8AF and the F100Nikon 50mm 1.4 AF. and two flashSb 28 and Sb 800..notpwerful enough for such an event.

Here the fcussing was not to my satisfaction..and the guy did not want his picture ..and some of the guys who do matam can gt quite nasty and i know the way they glare at you .. and i too can do what they do.. but if i cut myself badly who will take pictures...
with blood flowing into the view finder.. but i manage and shoot negatives.. and canon guys have added me to their community..
but i dont shoot nor have canon equipment.. i just cant afford as my entire arsenl is nikon..and i have shot all my pictures ONLY NIKON...NO OTHER CAMERA.. AND THIS IS THE GODS HONEST TRUTH. AND IF I BAD MOUTH NIKON IT IS NOT JUST ME BUT ALL MY FRIENS IN MUMBAI AND GUJRAT THAT BOUGHT THE D70SLR DIGITAL.. AND CURSE NIKON IN OUR DAILY PRAYERS,, WE ALSO OFFER ROSARY AND NOVENA AT ST MICHEALS CHURCH MAHIM THAT THE ASS HOLE WHO DEVELOPED THE D70SUFFERS ALL THE BODY PAINS AND ACHES ..AND THAT THE CURSES OF ALL OF US ARE GOING TO BE ON HIS HEAD AND WE ARE COLLECTING DONATIONS FOR WREATHS ON HIS FUCKED UP BODY,,,D70SLR DIGITAL..
