a 500 year old wooden statue of mother mary cradling the infant jesus dressed in indian finery..history has it the original statue was found in the seas.. by fishermen,...and the site bandra is an east indian fishing village of these original settlers.
people come from all corners to seek the ladys favors.. and offer candles.. the candles come in all kinds of shapes.. the human part that is troubling the devotee...heart,spleen, limbs, breasts, brain..
tongue.. eyes.. but not yorricks tree certainly...homes scooters cars..human desires all waiting to be appeased and miracles galore, 10,00000 people.. visit the lady all caste color,creed
after mass is served.. the floral and candles offered..the devotees can let down their hair.. as the back of the chuch has steps descending into a fair.. bandra fair.. the speciality is the roasted black channa,bebinca,and mouth watering sweets. and even a few mini skirted dishes too...the local romeos with studs pierced evey where ... seem to be drawn to these beautiful babes... like flies on

church, after mass the old fogies who want to chew Fr Juan’s brains asking him the same question they have been asking of priests that were there before Juan’s time and fled... the priests to unquestionably die in the little cemetery outside...the old fogies don’t die.. They play relay.. The moment one falls two more join in.. if you don’t believe me next Sunday go to church and watch with photographers no1s eyes,,, it will all fall in place,
They never allow any one to sit on this bench... they will grudgingly push you.. and they hate me,,, I park my camera bag,, my tripod, my Sufi stick.. Oh they hate the heresy of my Sufi stick.. so these old fogies. .old Dmello.
Not gone mellow, old Braganza and no offenza, old Winston Gomes... thrown away from old homes., .they just take all my belongings when I am in shooting the church and dump my stuff on the floor., with smug smiles for a face.. And pretend someone else has done it...and the bitch of a church dog.. Invariably piddles on my camera bag..

And this was the fragrance and the feeling I felt at St Peters Church, our religions Christianity and Islam may have come from foreign shores , and our forefathers opted for one of them, but our cultural colors and ethos has always been Indian.

And I think Mr Firoze Khan had more guts than those ass licking scoundrels in Bollywood and in the political regime who never traised their Voice when attrocities were committed on the Shias and the Ahmediyas, the Christians and the Bahais...
And how a Muslim convert to Christanity was saved by the Papacy but an Indian Engineer was killed as our Government plays footsie with a neighbour that is hell bent on destroying us.
And the Pakistani Muslim I have seen when I lived in the Gulf inthe 80 s hated us Indian Muslims , I dont know why .
Even the Arab Muslim treats the Indian Muslim like shit, all he wants is to sleep with our women under the pretence of giving them a new future.. and go to Hyderabad and you will see this like a putrid wound, touts , mullah pimps , and the Arab wants them raw and young.. to massage his disintigrating disappearing libido.
I have had no problems with the Catholics the Christians and Fr Esperanca not liking Muslims well that is his pesonal prerogative , he never liked my brother Firdaus Shakir too at St Josephs School RC Church.

There are almost five hundred so-called "Black" Madonnas scattered over Europe, the highest concentrations appearing in France and Italy. Many are believed to have miraculous powers of healing and protection.
While many of these dark-skinned Virgins are explained away as the result of candle soot or age, most appear to be deliberately created with black skin. Some bear reference to the Song of Songs from the Old Testament:
"I am black, but beautiful, daughters of Jerusalem. Like the black tents of Cedar, like the pavilions of Solomon."
The Black Madonnas are associated with the earth, with darkness, mystery, and most importantly, miracles. Many have theorized that these images and statues hearken back to the worship of the ancient Goddesses Isis and Demeter; indeed, some of the statues themselves are believed to be pre-Christian. Certainly, the image of the divine mother and child-god are older than Christianity, and the tendency of the Catholic Church to borrow, consciously or subconsciously, the iconography of widespread Pagan cults at the time of it's founding is well known.
The statues have also been connected to Mary Magdalen, who is often seen as the counterpart of the Virgin "Goddess" Mary- an emblem of fertility and sexuality, a substitute for the missing "Goddess consort" to Christ.
